Long before I got into publishing enamel plates, I tackled one of my biggest challenges: producing a statuette from A to Z.
It all starts with a meeting. The one with Achdé, at the Gradignan Festival. From this exchange, a strong idea emerged: to bring Kid Lucky and his totem to life.
But between the idea and reality… there's a world of difference.
First step: find a manufacturer 😉 After Fariboles Production refused to create the statuette, I had to bounce back. Giving up was not an option. So I set out to find a team capable of taking on this challenge.
And what a team it was.
The sculpture brought together complementary talents: AZ Rod for Kid, Isabelle Merlet for the totem, and Jean-Yves Kervévan for the base and its famous wood shavings.
For the molding, a significant encounter with the Moulinsart molder — a privileged, almost unreal moment. And for the cutting, an essential figure in para-BD joined the adventure: Maxx Gillespie.
A long, demanding, sometimes uncertain project…
But after 18 months of hard work, the result is here.
In November 2016, the first Kid Lucky figurines finally arrived at collectors' homes, sublimated by the painting of Jean-Yves Kervévan and Maxx Gillespie.
An extraordinary project. A human adventure.
And above all… immense pride.
