In the digital age where everyone displays their real or artificial happiness on social networks while hiding their dark sides, “Raise the Anchor” wants to be the banal story of an ordinary woman and her human anxieties banal. She draws there, under the personification of a somewhat sinister specter, her anxieties, her pains, her doubts, not to get rid of them but to talk about them as simply as possible, because these anxieties are common to everyone. This woman could be you with your worries, your doubts and your fears. Because our life is not made up only of light and shadow, the story ends neither well nor badly. It represents humans in their fight against their own demons and with their sole desire to find not happiness like the one that society wants to sell them, but something better, a step towards what is serenity.

Biography Sarah Belmas

Sarah Belmas was born in the 1980s in the Lyon region. It was with the adventures of Tintin during her childhood that she learned to doodle and has been drawing ever since. Established for several years in the Bordeaux region, “Lever l'ancre” is her first graphic novel.
